Food Export Buyers Mission Participation Results in New Export Market for New Jersey Snack Supplier

Food Export's Caribbean and Latin American Buyers Mission has been a pinnacle event for supplier and buyers to create connections since 2008.

With roots in the snack industry going back to the 1950s, Star Snacks, Co. LLC of Jersey City, New Jersey offers high-quality snack nut products for retailers and those seeking private label products. From their large state-of-the-art, processing, and packaging facility, they are a “one source solution for quality branded”, private label, and custom packed nuts and dried fruit.

In June of 2022, Star Snacks, Co. attended Food Export-Northeast’s Caribbean and Latin American Buyers Mission where they had 10 pre-arranged, private meetings with buyers from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, and Uruguay. During the meetings, they presented their Imperial and Star Snacks brands of mixed nut products.

This past December Star Snacks was able to report earning $50,000 in sales from Barbados and $20,000 in sales to Trinidad and Tobago. They also are projecting to complete another $100,000 and $50,000 in sales to these markets over the next twelve months. Both market sales represent new export markets for the New Jersey supplier.

Since 2015, Star Snacks, Co. has participated in Food Export programs and has attended multiple Buyers Missions, Focused Trade Missions, and participated in the Market Builder program and the Online Product Catalog.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
