Export Advisor Program Grows Exports for New York Supplier

In 2020, Katz Gluten Free of Mountainville, New York participated in Food Export-Northeast’s Export Advisor Program to prepare for international exporting.

The Food Export Advisor Program is a year-long service which provides custom assistance from an experienced advisor to help select U.S. Suppliers kick start and improve their exporting efforts. The consistent, systematic plan and approach helps business grow with a customized approach, unique to each business.

Katz Gluten Free is a company founded in 2006 by a mother of two gluten intolerant children, which has grown into a full-scale operation that happily serves a wide variety of allergen free baked goods without compromising availability or flavor. According to Faigy Spitzer, in charge of international business development for the Katz Gluten Free, “The Export Advisor offered valuable advice in all areas of international trade. He did initial research to put together a list of targeted countries and answered a lot of frequently ask questions like, how to determine your HS code, the ups and downs of selling to an export management company ectara."

Katz Gluten Free started joining Food Export programs in 2019 participating in the Export Advisor Program, the Branded Program, Export Essentials, webinars, Buyers Missions, and the Online Product Catalog.

As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
