Export Growth to China for Ohio Supplier

Nature’s One, of Lewis Center, Ohio, had a year-to-year increase of 140% in export sales to China from 2018 to 2019.

Although the pandemic dropped sales by 58% in 2021, because of the company’s use of the 50% cost reimbursement through the Branded Program offered by the Food Export-Midwest, their distributor was able to continue the promotional and marketing activities that were planned for 2021.

Using their available Agricultural Trade Promotion (ATP) Program funding made available through Food Export-Midwest’s Branded Program helped the Ohio supplier increase brand awareness with strong marketing strategies. Nature’s One used their allocated funding to complete marketing plans in China advertising in newspapers, on billboards, television, radio, and social media. The company also participated in trade seminars, shipped freight samples, completed in-store promotions, and made package/label modifications. In a time when the market and economy was unpredictable it was crucial to have the 50% reimbursement available with the ATP funded Food Export Branded Program.

This is certainly one of the major contributing factors that assisted the Ohio company to build a brand new organic-dedicated manufacturing facility locally in Ohio with state-of-the-art production equipment. Now Nature’s One can create more jobs, purchase more U.S. made ingredients and supplies and enhance the U.S. economy.

According to Pricilla Berger, Global Sales Director of Nature’s One, “Our experiences participating in Food Export-Midwest programs over the years have always been very positive, productive, and beneficial. The various tools and programs are easy to use, and the staff is always professional, courteous, and efficient. The financial support the Branded Program provides has helped market our products in foreign markets in a much effective manners especially when we need to build a new U.S. brand in a very competitive market. All in all, Food Export is an essential part of our business strategy for export so we can expand our U.S. made products in foreign markets properly and effectively which in turn benefits our U.S. economy as well.”

Nature’s One is a producer of all natural and organic baby formula, food, and beverages for the retail and medical sectors.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) and Agricultural Trade Promotion (ATP) Program to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
