Colombia is the leading destination for U.S. agricultural exports in South America, followed by Brazil and Chile. In 2020, U.S. agricultural exports to Colombia were valued at $2.9 billion.
Colombia is the 3rd most populous Latin American country and the 4th largest economy in the region. The urban areas have a significant ratio of upscale and upper-middle class consumers with disposable income. There is a reported 10% GDP growth in 2021 for the country, and it is expected to rank 1st in the region in 2022 with 4.5% growth.
The U.S. has an FTA with Colombia which is an entry/starting point to anyone wishing to explore South America or the region.
Colombia is now the largest U.S. South American market (and 11th overall) for the export of U.S. agricultural products as well as the 2nd largest export market for U.S. consumer food products in South America and the largest importer of U.S. processed food in South America.
